The key to a delicious pasta is a sauce that coats and moistens each noodle. This recipe uses our Turkey Sausage as one of the ingredients. Serve this alongside a green salad.

 

Ingredients


Pasta - 1 lb whole wheat pasta, shape of choice Onion - 1 medium Bell_Peppers - 1 lb frozen OR 2 fresh bell peppers, washed Oil - 1 Tablespoon olive or canola oil Salt - ¼ teaspoon kosher or ⅛ teaspoon table/iodized Broth - 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth White_Wine - ½ cup Turkey_Sausage - 1x recipe (recipe link above) Garlic_Powder - ½ teaspoon garlic powder Parsley - 2 teaspoons, dried Rosemary - ½ teaspoon, dried and crushed Butter - 4 Tablespoons, unsalted Parmesan* - ½ cup Black_Pepper- to taste Fresh_Herbs - ½ cup fresh parsley, scallions and/or chives, chopped

Instructions

Step 1
Cook pasta according to box instructions, strain and set aside.
Step 2
While the pasta is cooking, dice onion and bell peppers. Measure herbs and garlic into a small bowl..
Step 3
Heat oil in a large pot and add the onions, peppers and salt. Cook over medium heat until onions are translucent and soft, about 8 minutes.
Step 4
Add the broth, wine, dried rosemary and sausage. Break up the sausage with a potato masher, and allow to simmer in the liquid until it is cooked through, 3-5 minutes.
Step 5
Add the garlic powder and pasta, and mix to combine it with other ingredients.
Step 6
Add butter and parmesan and stir until melted. Season to taste with black pepper. Top with fresh herbs.

Notes

*To add even more flavor to this dish, try adding dried herbs to your parmesan with this recipe:

  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoons + 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (herb blend)

Mix the garlic powder, parmesan and herbs together. Use in pasta dishes or on popcorn!

[For a lower fat version of this dish, cut the amount of butter and cheese in half.]
